Take advantage of the many family gatherings and festive moments over the next five weeks to produce your own family home video. Give your children starring roles in the movie, featuring them in happy, silly moments in the presence of their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Catch them setting the table and helping with the meal. Cue them when they open their gifts. Zoom in for the surprising moments, the giggles, the sleepy eyes at the end of the holiday.
Making a family home video is a brilliant way to get the children to connect to your home and to their loved ones while in your custody. It builds a wonderful memory of happy times and will remind them of how much fun they had with you. Perhaps more importantly, a home video is a persuasive piece of evidence that may be admitted in a custody trial to show how well the children bond with their relatives at your home, and how much they are at ease under your roof.
Holiday celebrations are a great opportunity to get a full cast of characters in your home, and a time when you’re most likely to capture hugs and kisses, smiles and other happy scenes.
